As a student, he sang original versions and songs at festivals and clubs. As a graduate, he traveled to Germany to continue his studies and continued writing and making presentations while living there. However, he did not begin to pursue his musical career until he returned to the United States in the early 1980s.

Career

Regardless of the success of his songs on the country charts, Lovett's musical taste was not limited to this genre, but he was able to incorporate jazz, folk and pop into a country setting.

This was demonstrated in his second album Pontiac Where the edges of each genre were carried to the limit. As this album positioned itself on the pop charts, its country music audience declined at the same time.

The album only produced a minor country hit called"I Married Her Just Because She Looks Like You". Later Lovett settled in California where he began to work on his fourth album"Joshua Judges Ruth", that would be released for 1992. This would be the most successful work of his race and was widely accepted within the genre pop, but forgotten by the country .
