Surely you've heard about the low temperatures they suffered in the northern US and in Canada at the beginning of 2019. At the end of January, temperatures stabilized, but remained below zero in many places in the state of Montana. It is in this low temperature scenario that explains the events that occurred with the cat that froze and survived in Montana.
In Kalispell, Montana, some time ago a family bought a house and when they settled down, they found that a female cat lived nearby and often went to her garden. They gave it the name of Fluffy and, without considering their owners, provided food and affection when the cat approached them. When it was cold, she herself sought shelter, but one day in late January, the family returned home and found herself in the garden. the cat completely frozen and covered with ice and snow and . Although they were not the legitimate owners of the animal, they did not hesitate to pick up Fluffy and take her quickly to the nearest veterinary center.
Upon arrival at the Kalispell Animal Clinic, the cat had no temperature and it seemed impossible to save her. However, the vets worked hard to get it. They used the heaters of the cages, intravenous fluids and towels to try to thaw it and finally, after an hour of effort, they heard the kitten growling. Fluffy had come back to life. Quickly, seeing that the cat that froze she gave signs of life, she was transferred to a veterinary hospital with an emergency service. There they managed to raise their temperature a little more and Fluffy began to move. I was saved!
At night, she was discharged. The family that rescued her has decided to adopt her definitively and take charge of her by providing her with a home in which to take refuge when she needs it, but respecting the freedom that the cat has always had. Neither the family nor the veterinarians know exactly what happened to her and why she was left in that situation, but they suspect that she was bent over looking or hunting for too long and got stuck in the snow without being able to move.
