6 Poems of Great Authors Romanticism

The Poems of Romanticism Are compositions that use literary resources characteristic of poetry, framed in the cultural movement called Romanticism.

He Romanticism Emerged in Germany and England in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century, and quickly spread throughout the European continent, the United States and the rest of the world.

6 Poems of Great Authors Romanticism Lord Byron, author of Romanticism.

Its main characteristic in all the artistic expressions was to oppose Neoclassicism, current that preceded it.

Therefore, the poems of this period also followed these premises, where feelings predominate over reason, the possibility of freely expressing beyond preset rules, originality and creativity as opposed to imitation and tradition. It is, therefore, a purely subjective current.

6 Poems of Famous Authors of Romanticism

Poetry was not the most literary genre cultivated in Romanticism, as new forms emerged as the historical novel, adventure novel and romance. However, the poets of this period, of course, wrote their verses fulfilling the philosophical convictions of the time: the knowledge of the Self and the pursuit of beauty beyond reason.

Below we leave you some texts of the most famous authors of this period.

1- A Dream

Once a dream wove a shadow
On my bed that an angel protected:
It was an ant that was lost
By the grass where I thought I was.

Confused, perplexed and desperate,
Dark, surrounded by darkness, exhausted,
Stumbled through the thick tangle,
All disconsolate, and I heard him say:
"Oh, my children! Do they cry?
Will you hear how his father sighs?
Do they go around looking for me?
Do they come back and sob for me?

Compassionate, I let out a tear;
But I saw a firefly nearby,
Who replied:"What human groan
Summon the guardian of the night?

It is my job to illuminate the grove
While the beetle makes its round:
Now follows the buzzing of the beetle;
Little slut, come home soon."

Author: William Blake (England)

2- Walk as Beautiful as the Night

Walk beautiful like the night
From clear climates and starry skies,
And all the best of darkness and light
It shines in its appearance and in its eyes,
Enriched thus by that tender light
Heaven denies the vulgar day.

One more shadow, one less ray,
They would have diminished the ineffable grace
That stirs in every braid of hers of black shine,
Or lightly illuminates his face,
Where sweet thoughts express
How pure, how lovely is your abode.

And on that cheek, and on that front,
They are so soft, so calm, and at the same time eloquent,
The smiles that conquer, the nuances that illuminate
And they speak of days lived with happiness.
A mind at peace with everything,
A heart with innocent love!

Author: Lord Byron (England)

3- Know Thyself

One thing Only man has sought at all times,
And he has done it everywhere, in the summits and in the simas
of the world.
Under different names - in vain - was always hidden,
And always, still believing it close, it was out of hand.
There was a man a long time ago who in kind myths
Children
Revealed to his children the keys and the way of a castle
hidden.
Few managed to know the simple key of the enigma,
But those few became masters
of destiny.
It was a long time ago-the error sharpened our ingenuity-
And the myth no longer hides the truth.
Happy who has become wise and has left his obsession
around the world,
Who himself longs for the stone of wisdom
Eternal.
The reasonable man then becomes a disciple
authentic,
Everything transforms it into life and into gold, it no longer needs the
Elixirs.
Bulle within him the sacred still, is the king in it,
And also Delphi, and in the end understands what it means
know yourself .

Author: Georg Philipp Freiherr von Hardenberg - NOVALIS (Germany)

4- Fullness

Since I applied my lips to your still full cup,
And I put my pale forehead in your hands;
Since I could ever breathe the sweet breath
Of your soul, perfume hidden in the shade.

Since I was allowed to hear from you
The words in which the mysterious heart is poured out;
Since I have seen tears, since I have seen smile,
Your mouth on my mouth, your eyes on my eyes.

Since I have seen shine on my excited head
A ray of your star, alas, always veiled.
Since I have seen falling in the waves of my life
A rose petal torn from your days,

I can now say to the fast years:
Come on! Keep moving! I will not grow old!
All gone with all our wilted flowers,
I have in my album a flower that nobody can cut.

Your wings, when brushed, will not be able to spill
The glass in which I now drink and which I have well filled.
My soul has more fire than you have ashes.
My heart has more love than you forget.

Author: Víctor Hugo (France)

Do not Stop

Do not let the day end without having grown up a bit,
Without having been happy, without having increased your dreams.
Do not be overcome by discouragement.
Do not let anyone take away your right to express yourself,
Which is almost a must.
Do not give up the desire to make your life extraordinary.
Do not stop believing that words and poetry
They can change the world.
No matter what our essence is intact.
We are beings full of passion.
Life is desert and oasis.
It knocks us down, it hurts us,
Teaches us,
Make us protagonists
Of our own history.
Although the wind blows against it,
The mighty work continues:
You can contribute with one stanza.
Never stop dreaming,
Because in dreams the man is free.
Do not fall into the worst of mistakes:
the silence.
The majority lives in a scary silence.
Do not resign yourself.
Flees.
"I make my screams for the roofs of this world,"
Says the poet.
Appreciates the beauty of simple things.
You can make beautiful poetry about small things,
But we can not row against ourselves.
That transforms life into hell.
Enjoy the panic that causes you
Have life ahead.
Live intensely,
Without mediocrity.
Think that the future is in you
And faces the task with pride and without fear.
Learn from those who can teach you.
The experiences of those who preceded us
Of our"dead poets",
They help you walk through life
Today's society is us:
The"living poets".
Do not let life happen to you without you living it.

Author: Walt Whitman (United States)

Eternal Love

The sun may cloud forever;
The sea can dry in an instant;
The axis of the earth can be broken
Like a faint crystal.
Everything will happen! Can death
Cover me with his funeral crepe;
But it can never go out in me
The flame of your love.

Author: Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer (Spain)
