5 Differences between Video Call and Videoconference

exist differences between video calls and videoconferences although they have a common goal, which is to connect the entire world in both work and family environments and other.

We live in a globalized world in which technology is developed by leaps and bounds and that is able to surpass us if we do not grow and we use our knowledge along with it.

video conferencing differences

An example of these advances are the already known videoconferences and video calls, which for people of past generations, like our grandparents, may seem like exits from a science fiction movie.

Differences between video call and videoconference

1- Number of connected users

Videoconferencing is considered primarily a tool used for meetings or work meetings in which more than two people, seminars and even online courses will be present.

On the other hand, a video call is a quick and informal way to contact another person.

Usually in a video call only two people interact. Video calls have replaced phone calls in offices.

2- Smartphones vs computers and projectors

A video call allows communication between two people using audio and video resources primarily on cell phones.

Although a videoconference can be done through a cell phone, this is not so common.

In order to carry out a videoconference it is advisable to use a computer either desktop or laptop and in some cases a projector is also used.

3- Tools and data

A videoconference allows you to share information such as graphs, tables, diagrams or file sharing. While this type of data is not shared in a video call.

4- Budget

Another difference between video calls and videoconferences is that the former are much cheaper than the latter.

A video call is made from a cell phone which is paid by monthly data plan.

The videoconference for its part to be used in companies or large companies require a system that is sometimes designed according to the needs of said company and therefore is more expensive.

The ability to transfer audio and video are not the same as those provided by a cell phone for a video call.

5- Power Software

Another difference between the two communications is that the video call is much easier to perform and only need to have some application such as Skype or those included in Facebook or Whatsapp to enable us to do it.

In contrast, to make a videoconference requires systems and programs a little more complex.

Of course, it is worth mentioning that progress has been made in this field and it would not be surprising if videoconferences in a matter of minutes are as fast and easy to perform as video calls.

Certainly both tools fulfill their purpose and allow us to be in immediate contact with our family, friends or colleagues, no matter where on the planet we are.
