10 Manifestations of the Holy Spirit Featured from the Bible

The Manifestations of the holy spirit Express a supreme spiritual reality, identified as the power, energy, force or action of God to fulfill his will.

With multiple interpretations and different conceptions according to each theological school, the Holy Spirit is one of the essential protagonists of the Bible, the sacred book of Catholicism.

Holy spirit manifestation

For religions such as Catholicism is the active force of God that is expressed in the form of power and authority in the devotees of Christ.

It is usually represented in the form of a dove because according to the Gospel:"Jesus came out of the water; And then the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending in the form of a dove and coming upon Him"(Matthew 3:16).

The Holy Spirit is also the third person of the Trinity, who complete the Father God and the Son God (Jesus Christ). There are different discussions about this conception, related to the origin of that person, his name and above all whether it is the presence of God or not. Nevertheless, unanimity among the various denominations of Christianity in its majority gives the Holy Spirit the origin to God.

In broad outlines, four aspects can be identified in relation to the Holy Spirit referred to as:

  • For modalists, they correspond to a divine, impersonal force or quality.
  • For the Arians, the holy spirit has a spiritual identity reference of an exalted character but to which it endows of a condition of angelic creature.
  • The triteísta conceive to the holy spirit like another God, inferior to the main one.
  • For the Trinitarians, which corresponds to Catholic Christianity, it is a divine person.

Manifestations of the Holy Spirit throughout the Bible

1- Luke 11: 9-13

"And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; Seek, and you shall find; Knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For everyone who asks receives; And he who seeks finds; And the one who knocks, opens. And which father of you, if his son asks for bread, will he give him a stone? Or, if he fish, instead of fish, will he give him a serpent? (...)".

This quotation from the apostle Luke can be taken as a reference of the holy spirit as God's strength and will. According to the text, he will respond if you cry, will be to help and teach who needs it when everything seems finished and the horizon is dark.

In this sense, the holy spirit is a force that is asked and begged to help the believer even if he can not see it.

2 John 14: 16-18

"And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Comforter to be with you forever; The Spirit of truth, whom the world can not receive, because he neither sees you nor knows you, you do know him because he dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you...".

Perhaps one of the verses that more controversy awakens by their misinterpretations. Here, according to theologians, John speaks of God as the Comforter who, although he can not be seen, is always present.

Acts 19: 6

"And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them; And they spoke in tongues, and prophesied. About twelve men were there. And when Paul was come into the synagogue, he spoke boldly for three months, disputing and persuading the kingdom of God.

In this passage the manifestation of the holy spirit refers to obedience in the word of God to enter into his kingdom and to be saved through experience.

4 - Romans 8:26

"And in the same way, the Spirit also helps us in our weakness; Because we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit himself intercedes with unspeakable moans."

In this passage is made a manifestation of the holy spirit that transcends the powerful force or attitude of God.

5- Corinthians 2: 9-10

"What eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, nor entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God revealed to us through the Spirit, for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God."

In this verse of the Bible, the manifestation of the holy spirit is in all men because he is the only one who can know all his thoughts.

6- Ephesians 2: 1

"And he gave you life, when you were dead in your trespasses and sins..." In this biblical passage the holy spirit is a feeling that passes through men, whose life is the work of him.

7- Titus 3: 5-6

"He saved us, not by works of righteousness which we would have done, but by his mercy, by the washing of regeneration, and by the renewing of the Holy Spirit, which he poured out upon us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior."

One of the passages of the Bible that contain a great truth about the building of faith. God is the Savior, benign, master of all grace and the perfect gift and the holy spirit his way.

8- Acts 2:38

"Peter said to them, 'Repent, and baptize each one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."

In this brief verse of the canonical holy book is also the contradiction of believing that salvation is given in baptism. According to theologians it is a mistake to believe in it, for the Bible is clear that salvation is only through the grace of faith in Jesus Christ.

9- Galatians 5:22 - 23

"The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance; Against such things there is no law,"says the Bible about the holy spirit.

In this biblical passage it becomes clear that the fruit of the holy spirit, as the force of God, is not instantaneous but it comes permanently into the subconscious and unconscious of the person. There in that place where no man can reach will be the divine presence.

The fruit of the holy spirit cleanses, corrects and reorients man, who can and should only collaborate with faith and belief in him.

10- Romans 8: 13-17

"For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; But if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the flesh, you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God, such are the children of God.

In this verse of the Bible, Romans makes a turn to speak of Christians and endow them as followers of God's work on Earth. The holy spirit manifests itself in this sacred passage as a force that gives man the necessary security through consciousness.
