Tuna are fish that belong to the genus of the Thunnus that consists of a dozen species. They live in the oceans and their common characteristics are having two dorsal fins, a plump body covered with blue / silver scales, measuring between 3 and 8 meters and weighing between 400 and 900 kg. They can live up to 15 years.

7 Another of the tuna's curiosities is that its cruising speed is between 3 and 7 km. per hour, but can easily reach 70 km. per hour and exceptionally, in short routes, at 110 km. per hour.

8 The reason why the flesh of the tuna is a pink or reddish hue is because it contains more hemoglobin and myoglobin than other fish.

9 One of the concerns when consuming tuna is that they may have high levels of histamine and mercury. Experts say it may be advisable to limit their use in risk groups such as children or pregnant women.

10 Due to the great world demand of sushi and sashimi and also to the increase of the world population, there is an overfishing of tuna, so there is a great threat to the conservation of some species, such as "bluefin tuna".
